The SQL Database holds important information for accessing, retrieving, and editing your website. You can download a copy of your database to save as a backup if your data needs to be restored. This article was created to demonstrate how to create and download a database file to use it to restore the MySQL Database.
Step 1: Create A MySQL Backup In cPanel
Within cPanel, navigate to the Backup Wizard tool by clicking on the “Backup Wizard” icon. You will use this to create your backups.
Click on the “MySQL Databases” button under the “Select Partial Backup” section.
Step 2: Download The MySQL Backup File
Note: The file will automatically save in your Downloads folder. You will need to move it to a more permanent location using the file explorer. Make sure that you take note of where you have saved this file, and the name and date, as you will need to refer to it later.
Step 3: Restore The MySQL Database
- Return to the Backup Wizard in cPanel.
Click the “Restore” button.
Select “MySQL Databases”.
Click “Choose File”.
Select the backup file that you have previously downloaded to your computer.
Click “Upload” to complete your task
