This article is for cPanel Accounts. Determine where your account is with this guide.
To close a domain, you MUST cancel it through your http://cp.westhost.com/ account. If you have a credit card on file it will auto-renew the domain for the same number of years you originally registered it with. If you purchase 1 year when you first order a domain name, it will renew for 1 year at the end of each billing cycle. Verification to the contact e-mail address on file will be sent when accounts are closed.
If a domain expires and remains unpaid, WestHost will retain ownership of the domain name. After a grace period of usually 30 days, the domain will go into what is called a Redemption period. There are largers fees associated with the purchase of a domain that has gone into the Redemption period. This fee is usually $100 plus the original yearly registration costs.
WestHost can accept all credit cards, PayPal, Checks, or Money Orders for invoice payments. WestHost can accept wire transfers with a $20 fee.
Provided your hosting account includes unlimited additional domains [cPanel shared personal is the only account with a 1 domain limit], there are no additional costs to creating Addon Domains in your hosting account.
If you are transferring a domain away or OUT of WestHost, login to http://cp.westhost.com/ navigate to the Domain Names tool and configure the domain from there. Domain transfers take around 5 business days to complete --sometimes longer. Please do not attempt to transfer a domain in or out within 15 days of the expiration or renewal time period.
If you are transferring a domain INTO WestHost, you will need to have it unlocked with the former domain registrar. They should also provide you with an EPP or an Authorization code. Once you have that information login to http://cp.westhost.com/ and bring up the Domain Names tool. From there you can transfer in a domain and enter the EPP/Auth code to initialize the transfer. Domain transfers take around 5 business days to complete -- sometimes longer. Please do not attempt to transfer a domain in or out within 15 days of the expiration or renewal time period.
If you are transferring a domain in either direction ensure that your WHOIS information is up to date -- otherwise you may be locked out of the domain during or after a transfer process.
